A sudden jolt of electricity sent shock waves throughout the brain. Before one can decide whats wrong, another wave of attack. Such eccentric phenomenon is hard to live with, but every time one lies or deviates from the truth, such should be the end result. Sudden jolts of electricity to run through the neurons bringing them back to talking the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. If only such a phenomenon existed, perhaps then only we would stop lying so much necessarily and unnecessarily. Now, I wonder, what would have happened to the political leaders of our country had there been something like this implanted in their brains. Would they be even able to perform any function properly? The amount of lies most of them tell to people and the entire nation so, the shocks received from the jolting phenomenon would have killed them at one stage. Ha ha ha. I wish there was something like this. Government says, the country wide strike or “hartal” as said in Bangla, has been unsuccessful and that the general mass has rejected the strike. The opposition on the other hand says people themselves participated in the strike wholeheartedly. Dear politicians, when you call for a strike, we the general people get a holiday. So, there is no chance you can take the general people to the street. Will this cat and mouse game ever end or is it just all part of politics? Does it happen in other countries as well or just in Bangabondhus “Shonar Bangla”?

It has been a busy few days. Since its the school holidays, so getting enough time to move around. Meeting friends, building bonds and repairing some old damaged ones. But the highlight of the day has got to be the meeting with the highly energetic, vibrant, young charismatic Member of Parliament from Bhola, Barrister Andaliv Rahman Partho. He was at a program “Ekusher raat” on ETV. We had tea and took photos and had a sort of short adda. At a time when this country needs young political leaders, he along with Mahi B. Chowdhury, Junaid Ahmad Palak and others are leading the way. Hopefully one day, these young politicians would be able to overcome their party differences and work together for the betterment of this country. Only when you have mutual respect, can you achieve something for the good of the community. There are more young voters in the country than there has ever been. So, the two political parties must take that into consideration. Thanks to media and the blessings of technology, citizens are now much more aware of their surroundings and the scenario of the country. Age old catch phrases do not work anymore, but judging by the prevalence of their usage in the political scenery, it seems the older politicians still do not consider this fact in their political decision making. Nevertheless, time will come where their attitude must change and will change.

I never had any political ambition at any point. But situations may arise me to think otherwise. I always wanted to be a very simple person, doing an average daily job, be with a warm loving family and that is it. Well it was long time back. Things have changed. For better or worse that I don’t know. That part of the calculation will be done somewhere in the future with me sitting on a rocking chair, seeping a cup of Darjeeling tea in my front yard perhaps. But for the time being, a sudden urge has come to help the country in any way I can. Be it a protest for justice, be it meeting people with greater importance or ties with the political hierarchy, or distributing clothes among the poor. If I can affect the life of a single citizen of this country in a good way, I will rest in peace knowing that I have fulfilled my responsibilities as a good son of this soil.

Ameen!
